Open /etc/cobbler/nf and set the following parameter (you will need to search for this parameter): Open /etc/cobbler/settings and set the following parameters (you will need to search for these parameters in the configuration file): manage_dhcp: 1 Cobbler supports both dhcp3-server and dnsmasq. Install the necessary packages: apt-get install cobbler dhcp3-serverĪ key part of PXE booting is the DHCP server. The rest of this post will assume you are installing everything on that server. Pick a Serverįirst and foremost, find and setup a server to act as your build server. This post will cover setting up Cobbler on Ubuntu 14.04 and how to provision a server with Ubuntu Server 14.04. This is due in large part to its ability to provision CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, and Debian easily and quickly. 2.6.24-19-generic (but happened from the one delivered with Hardy) on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series (I actually have the 9600).Cobbler has always been my goto for provisioning bare metal servers. My setup: Hardy 8.04.1 over a Gutsy setup. In Hardy I haven't tried older versions, since I need a higher version for skype (still a problem ), but not for you guys) and the older versions don't support Hardy. Reverting back to a lower version resolved the problem. Reasoning why: when I had Gutsy and tried to install a specific fglrx version (I think ATI drivers 8.3 or so) the problems would appear. My guess is that it has to do with fglrx and KDM or so. Repeat: just start up and logout, restart or shutdown, that'll do it. When I press ctrl+alt+del the computer starts rattling for a bit and suddenly the console (ctrl+alt+F1 thing) appears and it mentions something about KDM (can't read it, gone too fast, but there is something with a PID involved). I try to logout, restart or shutdown and then the screen will go black after most stuff has been terminated. ubuntu 14.04 faster how to install keytouch on ubuntu 16.04 hp envy 14. I don't have it installed and I still have the problem as described above. to install lightdm-webkit-greeter on ubuntu 14.04 error while installing. I don't think that this hasn't to do anything with keytouch (which is the duplicate for this bug). bin/bash /usr/bin/keytouchd-launch /usr/bin/gnome-session Have we the problem? are any of you others with shutdown problems running keytouch? Reinstalled it, rebooted, shut down with the gnome button. rebooted with sudo reboot and then shut down with the gnome button. I just tried uninstalling keytouch on one of the 64-bit Ubuntu machines. Killing this causes the shutdown/reboot to continue normally. bin/bash /usr/bin/ keytouchd- launch /usr/bin/ gnome-session if i then run htop the top process is (on the gnome machines - i'm not willing to test the KDE one right now because it's my main machine) When everything stops during shutdown i can control-alt f1. it may not be configured - i'd have to ask my housemate. The only thing in common i can find with the three affected machines is that they are all running keytouch. nothing appears in ~/.xsession-errors, /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog.

i've had a program stay open and usable before, though. When stopped during shutdown, i usually only see the pointer (which can be moved) and the wallpaper. the other three stop when shutting down or restarting if the desktop manager's shut down/reboot command was used.Īll reboot or shutdown just fine with poweroff or reboot. The only one which doesn't exhibit this shutting down problem is the 32-bit Ubuntu machine. I have access to four machines running Hardy: 32-bit Kubuntu, 32-bit Ubuntu and two 64-bit Ubuntu machines.
